Sometimes getting another moment on an arena stage isn’t about a booking agent, a promoter or a carefully constructed career plan.

Sometimes a friend simply makes room.

Allie Colleen returned to her home state for a special appearance at Oklahoma City’s Paycom Center during Brooks & Dunn’s Neon Moon Tour, joining country artist Angie K to perform Colleen’s “Only Oklahoma.”

The invitation carried some weight because Angie K didn’t simply add another name to the evening. She gave up one of her own song slots so Colleen could have the moment.

“This industry doesn’t always give you a lot of shots, and the fact that I have a friend who would give up one of her song slots to make sure I get a moment is something not a lot of people experience,” Colleen said. “I’m so proud of Angie and always grateful to sing alongside her on any stage.”

And if you’re going to surrender a few minutes of arena-stage real estate for somebody, giving an Oklahoma artist the chance to sing “Only Oklahoma” in Oklahoma City is a pretty solid use of the time.

The appearance also marked Colleen’s return to Paycom Center after performing there during Jelly Roll’s Beautifully Broken Tour in November 2024.

This time, however, the significance was tied directly to home. “Only Oklahoma” reflects Colleen’s connection to the state where her musical journey began, turning the performance into something more personal than another tour stop.

The timing also fits neatly with what comes next.

Colleen is preparing to release a new single, “Our Turn,” later this month. The song is described as an anthem for outliers, underdogs and artists still fighting for the opportunity to be heard, particularly those giving everything they have whether the stage happens to be inside a neighborhood bar or an arena.

After Angie K literally made room for Colleen on an arena stage, that message suddenly doesn’t require much explanation.

The music business spends plenty of time talking about competition.

Occasionally, it’s worth paying attention when one artist decides somebody else’s moment matters too.

And this time, it happened exactly where “Only Oklahoma” belonged.

Oklahoma.
