Blind Channel has looked into the universe and considered the possibility that humanity may be completely alone.

Naturally, they added a breakdown.

The Finnish modern metal band has released “Into The Void,” featuring Of Mice & Men vocalist Aaron Pauley, as the final standalone single ahead of its sixth studio album, Painstream, arriving October 30 through Century Media.

The inspiration reaches considerably farther than the average metal song. Blind Channel points to the Fermi Paradox and the mysterious Wow! signal as starting points for a track that asks what it means if Earth really is the only place in the universe where life exists.

Their conclusion isn’t particularly comforting.

“If Earth really is the only place in the universe where life exists, we’re not exactly doing a great job of sustaining it,” the band said.

That cosmic question becomes something considerably closer to home: if nobody else is out there, and nobody is coming to rescue us, then taking care of the planet we’ve already got becomes our responsibility.

No pressure.

Pauley joins Blind Channel on the track, bringing the Of Mice & Men frontman’s vocals into an already heavy mix. Blind Channel says his contribution should ensure the resulting mosh pits “suck people in like black holes.”

Finally, some practical application for astrophysics.

“Into The Void” offers the final preview of Painstream, a 12-track album arriving after Blind Channel spent roughly a year and a half deliberately out of the spotlight. The record explores growth, self-reflection and the pain that can accompany both, while pushing the band’s sound forward without abandoning the intensity that built its audience in the first place.

The band will take that new chapter on the road with a European and UK tour scheduled for February 2027.

Plenty of metal songs have dealt with humanity’s problems.

Blind Channel just zoomed out far enough to ask whether we’re the universe’s only problem.

If so, somebody should probably start taking notes.
