Bobbie Dazzle Finds Plenty to “Wonder” About Ahead of New Album Star Power

Bobbie Dazzle has released a new single called “Wonder,” proving once again that glam rock remains one of the few places where wearing a catsuit can still reasonably be considered part of the job description.

The UK artist has unveiled “Wonder” alongside an official music video, offering another preview of her sophomore album, Star Power, due October 2 through Rise Above Records.

Born Siân Greenaway, Dazzle has built her musical alter ego around the oversized melodies, theatrical presentation and unapologetic excess that made glam rock considerably more interesting than simply standing onstage in jeans. Her debut album, Fandabidozi, established that identity, while Star Power promises to push it forward with a little more grit underneath all the glitter.

The 11-song album was largely written by Dazzle and keyboardist Chris Dando and recorded in the same studio used for her debut, maintaining a connection between the two records while expanding the sound and personality surrounding the project.

Dazzle has also spent the time between albums building a résumé that fits the wardrobe. She’s shared stages with Alice Cooper, Sweet, Lita Ford and Thunder’s Luke Morley, while also appearing at London’s Hyde Park with Jeff Lynne’s ELO.

That’s a fairly appropriate education for somebody determined to keep the spirit of glam rock alive without simply treating the ’70s like a costume party.

With “Wonder,” Dazzle continues building toward an album literally called Star Power. Modesty, thankfully, remains nowhere in the job description.

Star Power arrives October 2 via Rise Above Records.
