FIREWIND has apparently decided regular heavy metal isn’t epic enough anymore. So they brought in the Greek gods.
The Greek power metal band, led by guitar virtuoso and former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Gus G., will release its new studio album, Gods, Myths & Titans, on February 19, 2027. The record marks FIREWIND’s first release through BLKIIBLK, the metal imprint of Frontiers Label Group, and finds the band diving headfirst into the mythology of its homeland.
The first offering, “The Legend of Achilles,” is out now, introducing a concept album two years in the making. Each song explores a different myth, with FIREWIND expanding its established heavy metal sound through cinematic and orchestral elements. Henning Basse also returns behind the microphone, adding another familiar piece to what the band is positioning as one of its most ambitious records to date.
According to Gus G., the goal was simple: make the most epic FIREWIND album yet. Granted, once Achilles, Greek mythology, orchestras and power metal are all involved, subtlety has pretty much left the building anyway.
Gods, Myths & Titans arrives February 19, 2027, while “The Legend of Achilles” and its accompanying lyric video are available now.
