Sometimes a song takes seven years to find the right record. Girish and the Chronicles apparently aren’t afraid to let an idea sit around until it knows what it wants to be.
The Indian hard rock band has released “A New Spark,” the latest single and video from its upcoming album, Disintegrate, due November 20 via Frontiers Music Srl. Frontman Girish Pradhan originally recorded the beginnings of the song back in 2019 during the band’s Rock The Highway era before finally finding a home for it on the new album.
Lyrically, “A New Spark” deals with breaking free from negativity and finding the inspiration needed to start again, a surprisingly optimistic destination for an album called Disintegrate.
The new record finds Girish and the Chronicles pushing beyond their melodic hard rock and classic heavy metal foundation, incorporating heavier, darker and more alternative elements. Pradhan handles vocals and rhythm guitar alongside Yogesh Pradhan on bass, keyboards and production, Suraz Sun on lead guitar and Nagen Nags on drums.
The band will also have a fairly substantial warm-up before the album arrives. Girish and the Chronicles are scheduled to support Guns N’ Roses in Bangalore, India, on November 14, marking their third time opening for the rock giants. For a band that began in the Himalayan state of Sikkim, that’s the sort of career arc that probably sounded ridiculous right up until it happened.
A New Spark is available now, with Disintegrate arriving November 20.
