The Damn Truth have decided their self-titled album wasn’t quite damn enough the first time around.
The Canadian rock band has released The Damn Truth (Deluxe Edition) worldwide through Frontiers Music Srl, marking the JUNO Award-nominated album’s first worldwide physical release. Along with the expanded edition, the band is putting a fresh spotlight on “Love Outta Luck,” complete with its official music video.
Behind the console was Grammy-winning producer Bob Rock, whose résumé includes Metallica, Mötley Crüe, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams. The album was recorded at Adams’ Warehouse studio in Vancouver, which means there was considerably more rock history in the room than most bands could reasonably ask for.
The deluxe edition arrives on CD and four gatefold vinyl variants: black, coke-bottle clear, gold, and red-and-white splatter. Because apparently choosing just one piece of vinyl is no longer the rock-and-roll thing to do. It also adds “Be Somebody – Live at Hotel2Tango,” offering a taste of the live energy that has helped build the band’s reputation.
Fronted by Lee-la Baum alongside guitarist Tom Shemer, bassist PY Letellier and drummer Dave Traina, The Damn Truth continue to occupy that increasingly interesting space between classic rock DNA and a band smart enough not to pretend it’s still 1977.
